The first part of De-Placing Future Memory centred around two workshops, led by the key artists for the project, Catrin Webster and Shauna McMullan, and included panel presentations of ideas and works by the other participants. The workshops sought to foster dialogue among the artist and academic participants on the themes of the project, and, importantly, to take all participants and attendees on journeys into memory and the perception of place across time.
Workshop 2 coincided with the University of Exeter Schools Conference, 23 September 2009, and the key artists led interactive journeys for local secondary students who attended, an experience which further influenced the ongoing discussion of the project.
An exhibition of work produced throughout the project was held from September to October 2009.
